« what ever happened to trip-hop? | Main | Tobias lives? »

where have all the trip-hop gone?

I should have explained two things yesterday:
1. That was the first in a series of trip-hop posts
2. I always try to only post songs that I don't think my fellow Recidivists already have in their collections

Prince Paul likes vocal samples that go "ah one, two; ah one, two" and so do the Al recommended Sneaker Pimps.

Sneaker Pimps - "6 Underground (Nellee Hooper Edit)"
Sneaker Pimps - "6 Underground (Perfecto Mix)"

Back when the first album hit, their label made the band go out to fancy dinners with record store clerks. Kelli Ali disappointed me on a number of counts. She had no idea what "Breakadawn" was or that they'd pretty much jacked the whole thing. She didn't seem to wear deodorant. And she looked absolutely nothing like the high-contrast, snaggle-tooth-hiding video vixen version of herself.

If I remember correctly, didn't you take them/her to Houston's for "fancy" dinner? Not excatly sure the good impressions were piling up on either side of the table. hehehe.

I WISH. They picked some black and neon downtown deal that was probably only open for like three months. Velvet, or Dim, or Elb, or Ziiv, or some other stupid name.

I had to gorge myself on bland couscous just to avoid being over-spiced by the pretentious flavor-infused "food" that the rest of the world seems to enjoy so much.

Was this possibly a place called Cafe Diem?? I went there once and it was a-not-so-good. It was a dinner with some co-workers prior to seeing the band of some co-worker's boyfriend at the Masquerade. The band was a-not-so-good.
