In an effort to center up the title of this post, I present it below as such:
TWO SONGS WHICH ARE VERY SIMON AND GARFUNKEL-Y AND ARE LIKEWISE INDICATIVE OF THEIR RESPECTIVE ALBUMS' QUALITY BUT NOT SO INDICATIVE OF THEIR RESPECTIVE ALBUMS' SOUND OR GENERAL S & G'FUNKELINESS
Caribou - Hello Hammerheads. The rest of the album The Milk of Human Kindness -- sure to make my year-end top something, most likely 10! -- has big crashing beats and careful attention to beautiful sonic detail a la Dan Snaith's last Manitoba project (what a Dick). Think a good Beta Band with less vocals.
Half-Handed Cloud - Considered it a Loan. The rest of the album Thy Is a Word & Feet Need Lamps is pretty much my version of pop perfection: wacky, gruesome, or otherwise non-Sunday-Schooled stories from the Old Testament set to Brian Wilson Smile-esque arrangements. It is all over the place, hilarious, catchy, and beautiful all at the same time. This is the record that is battling Beauty and the Beat for top position as we pass the 5/12 of the year mark.
